TuneTrek was born from a long observation of the local area, where both advantages—such as its evocative landscapes, rich traditions, and strong sense of community—and disadvantages—like its limited appeal and perception as an isolated and little-known place—were analyzed. One element that emerged as common to both the strengths and weaknesses is the silence of the territory. Silence, in fact, is the conceptual starting point of this project.

The goals of TuneTrek are to increase awareness of Minucciano beyond its borders and to attract more people into the area. Several strategic approaches were initially considered, all aiming to promote the area to a wide audience: a sensory trail connecting people with the land through an immersive experience (this was the chosen strategy), a musical event to engage a younger demographic, a technology-based museum installation to communicate the history of the area, and a workshop allowing hands-on experience with marble, the iconic stone of Minucciano. The first strategy was deemed the most appropriate based on the project's research phase, as it offered the chance to bring together people, nature, and history into a single, cohesive experience.

TuneTrek is an app designed to generate interest in the municipality of Minucciano, aiming to attract as many visitors as possible. The app targets two main user types—adventure seekers and lovers of slow living—to broaden its appeal. It allows users to explore the most significant locations in the area through two modes: a playful mode, where users must complete games to unlock a sound and progress to the next stage, and a panoramic mode, where users freely choose their own route and enjoy a soundscape of the surroundings. Both modes feature the same four stages: the dam, the lake, the forest, and the village.

To participate, users must book a session by selecting the date, time, and mode. A unique access code is provided to identify players and activate the games. GPS access is required to locate the user and start the route. The starting point offers historical and geographical information. In game mode, each stage involves a short interaction: a themed mini-game (such as word puzzles, image quizzes) unlocking the next stage, after which the location's representative sound is played through the user's phone, accompanied by informative pop-ups. The next location is selected, a collectible card is awarded for the final game, and directions to the next point are revealed. After completing all four stages, a final memory-card game is unlocked using the collected cards, and a digital badge is awarded, which can be shared online. In panoramic mode, all mini-games are removed, and users are free to explore the soundscape and landscape at their own pace.

TuneTrek leverages the silence of Minucciano to connect people with nature, history, and culture of the place, offering an experience that combines interactivity, knowledge, and immersion in natural sounds. This project not only enhances the territory but promotes a new way of exploring it, creating a unique and engaging experience.
