Introduction

The Final Conference of the Bauhaus4MED project – “Reconstructing the Future” will take place in Florence on May 14–15, 2026. The event will gather Mediterranean stakeholders to explore sustainable urban transformation. Day 1 features an international conference with researchers, round tables, and an exhibition by IFLA Europe and Italian landscape architects. Day 2 is dedicated to the project’s closing session and final ceremony.

The Final Conference of the European project Bauhaus4MED – “Reconstructing the Future” will take place in Florence on May 14–15, 2026, marking the culmination of an international journey dedicated to the principles of the New European Bauhaus.

The conference will bring together researchers, professionals, public institutions, universities, local communities, and civil society actors from across the Mediterranean area to share results, experiences, and forward-looking visions for sustainable urban transformation.

The event is structured over two days with complementary formats:

Day 1 (May 14) will take the form of an international conference, featuring invited researchers and experts, thematic round tables, and a dedicated exhibition of works by IFLA Europe and Italian landscape architects. The programme will foster a multidisciplinary dialogue around key themes addressed by the project, including:

  • green transition and urban regeneration

  • participation and collaborative governance

  • sustainable architecture, landscape, and aesthetics

  • resilient and climate-neutral societies

Day 2 (May 15) will be dedicated to the official closing of the Bauhaus4MED project, including the presentation of final project results, selected contributions from the Sprint Event, and a final ceremony celebrating the achievements and impact of the initiative.

Across both days, the conference aims to strengthen cooperation across territories, promote innovation, and build new Mediterranean networks, showcasing practices, projects, and ideas capable of “reconstructing the future” in line with the values of sustainability, inclusiveness, and beauty promoted by the New European Bauhaus.
